I’m shocked that the Democratic Party had written a demand letter and given us a two-week ultimatum over the leaked audio involving Home Affairs Permanent Secretary Joseph Akafumba and President Hakainde Hichilema’s Political advisor Levy Ngoma, Police Inspector General, Lemmy Kajoba, has said.

Mr Kajoba said he had not received any demand letter from the DP and expressed ignorance over the 14 days ultimatum given to him.

DP lawyer Mr Wynter Kabimba on February 8 wrote a letter to the Zambia Information Communication Technology Authority (ZICTA) and Inspector General of police demanding for them to give the facts over the issue of the leaked audio.

Mr Kabimba from WM Kabimba and Company said failure to act on the letter, would leave him no option but be forced to get a writ of Mandamus, a Latin word meaning to command and that he was hoping the court would compel the police to reveal details about the leaked audio.

But Mr Kajoba said he would look at the letter once it reached his office and that he could not comment much about the matter.

“To be honest, I have not yet received the letter and I have checked with my officers who have also have not seen it,” Mr Kajoba said.

He however said that he would look at the matter appropriately since it had come to his attention.
