I’M READY TO BE IMPRISONED FOR DEFENDING MUNDUBILE – MOONGA
FORMER UPND member Paul Moonga says he will stand by Brian Mundubile, as he cannot abandon his brother who is in detention.
Moonga says he is actually ready to go to prison for defending Mundubile.
Before joining UPND in April last year, Moonga left the Patriotic Front after the 2021 elections and joined Fred M’membe’s Socialist Party, where he served on its National Management Committee. He later resigned and rejoined UPND.
Just two weeks before the 2026 elections, Moonga joined Mundubile’s NRPUP under the Tonse Alliance, saying he left UPND because it hurt him that President Hakainde Hichilema continued to refer to the PF as thieves.
However, after the elections, some Facebook pages, began claiming that Moonga had rejoined UPND, following Brian Mundubile’s loss to President Hichilema.
In an interview, Monday, Paul Moonga dismissed reports that he had rejoined UPND, describing them as propaganda.
“Sometimes silence is power when you are an adult and I saw that people are insulting and all that. I never rejoined UPND. That was total propaganda, I’m still National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP). I have not joined the UPND and I’m still a member of the Tonse Alliance. When I joined UPND, it was in public domain and equally when I left then, it was not private. So I’m with Mundubile. Wherever Mundubile will go, I’ll go with him. All those who are in prison are my brothers and I can’t abandon them now, they need me more than before. I can’t abandon my brothers because they are in prison, what kind of person am I? Most of them are my friends, George Chisanga who is former LAZ president. How could I abandon Makebi Zulu? How will God remember me? I would rather abandon people when they are dining and enjoying themselves, than abandoning your friends when they are in prison,” he said.
“God will ask me that your brothers were in prison and you didn’t visit them? So I can’t abandon them because God will punish me. Why should God punish me for something I can defend? Right now, I’m just quiet and watching things unfold, and therefore, let God’s will be done. If what HH is doing is true, then that’s’ good. If it’s not true, then I’m sorry. He has a duty to defend the country. But if it’s true that my brothers are involved in this militia, only God knows the truth. From a human being point of view, I know Brian Mundubile and he can’t use a gun to rule the country. I love my country Zambia”.
He said that even though he regards President Hichilema as family, he had chosen to follow Mundubile.
“I love HH as a human being because he is my brother, we come from Bweengwa together and his wife is my sister-in-law. His children are my children. Politics aside, me and HH are family but I’ve chosen to follow Brian Mundubile even in prison.
I’m still the elder brother to late Mutotwe Kafwaya even in the grave, and therefore I can’t abandon the young man now, then I’ve become a coward. If I’ll be arrested for what I’m saying so be it, let me go to prison, prison was meant for us members. All I’m appealing to the government is that can the truth be established. If HH was misled, let the law take its course by those before the President,” said Moonga.

My friend, are you okay upstairs? In what way do you want to defend Mundubile? Yes, if you go outside the laid down procedures of defending someone, you are likely to be imprisoned. And one of such actions outside the law is picking up arms, that’s outside the laid down procedures. If defend Mundubile by using fire arms or pangas, obviously, uzangena. But if you are a Lawyer yourself and you want to defend him in Court, then I don’t see any reason why you should be jailed. Who will even arrest you and for what reason? What charge is he going to give you? In Zambia, defending someone is not an arrest able offense. Where on earth have ever heard a Lawyer being arrested for defending someone? If it were the late Mwine Munshi, he would have rebuked you by saying; don’t think I am children, do you understand? If there are some cases which you feel or think will see you in jail, you will be arrested alone as an offender and not under the disguise of defending Mundubile.

I haven’t never taken Moonga as a serious person, he simply pretends to be somebody. His intelligence is very limited. Just look at the different parties he has been into: political prostitute. I don’t even see his future in politics.
It is only in Zambia where misfits are given a forum.
Who really cares about who Mr. Moonga is supporting? He is of no substance.
Man really wants attention? Who gives a….about a clown that jumps from one party to the next. Only to openly admit that he thrives off party droppings and state coffers…parasite
