IMPENDING IMPEACHMENT OF PRESIDENT HICHILEMA VIOLATION OF THE CONSTITUTION
By Patricia Male

Development Activist Elias melena says intentions by some opposition Members of Parliament to move a motion to impeach president Hakainde Hichilema is an assault to democracy and a breach of the constitution under which they owe allegiance and oaths to defend and protect.

Mr. Mulenga is concerned with the manner in which some opposition Members of Parliament are intending to move a motion of impeachment of the president without a cause or valid reasons arguing that the constitution demands that a sitting president shall be in office for a period of 5 years as prescribed under Article 35 clause 4 of the Constitution of Zambia.

He states that the intended impeachment is a clear demonstration that the opposition MPs have failed to provide checks and balances and cannot fit in the shoes of development that has taken place by the new dawn government led by president Hichilema.

Mr. Mulenga has since urged the parliamentarians to focus on developmental issues that will benefit the country and the people of Zambia unlike the irrelevant motions that are meant on sabotaging taxpayers’ money.
