Iran and Oman Agree on New Entry and Exit Routes for Strait of Hormuz
Iran and Oman have reached an understanding on new entry and exit routes for commercial vessels navigating the Strait of Hormuz, with details expected to be presented to Gulf countries during a regional meeting in Muscat on Monday, September 14.
The proposed routes are intended to provide a safer framework for commercial shipping amid heightened tensions surrounding the strategic waterway. Iranian officials said the consultations between Tehran and Muscat will be discussed with Gulf states as part of efforts to establish safe passage for vessels
The arrangement does not mean that the Strait of Hormuz has been fully reopened. Iran has maintained that any broader reopening remains dependent on conditions it has presented to the United States, while the new routing mechanism is aimed at managing maritime traffic and reducing risks to commercial vessels.
