Iran Designates British Royal Navy and Air Force as Terrorist Organizations, Labels MI6 Hostile
Iran has officially designated Britain’s Royal Navy and Royal Air Force as terrorist organizations under Iranian law, while classifying the UK’s foreign intelligence service, MI6, as a hostile group.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced the measures on November 1, describing them as reciprocal action against what Tehran considers hostile British policies and military support for US-Israeli operations against Iran.
Tehran also cited Britain’s decision in July to place Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) under the State Threats Act 2026, accusing London of providing military bases, facilities and logistical support for operations targeting Iran.
The measures were approved by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and took effect immediately upon publication.
The move marks a further escalation in diplomatic tensions between Tehran and London, adding another dimension to the wider confrontation involving Iran, the United States and Israel.
