Iran Warns US Against Landing Forces, Claims 10 Million Basij Ready for Asymmetric War
Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, senior military adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, has warned that any US attempt to land forces on Iranian territory would face severe resistance and heavy losses.
Safavi claimed Iran has at least 10 million trained Basij personnel capable of defending the country through a distributed, “mosaic-style” approach and asymmetric warfare.
He also claimed that Iranian radar systems are monitoring US naval forces across the Persian Gulf and into the Indian Ocean, allowing Tehran to track their positions.
The warning comes amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, with Iran continuing to reject military pressure over the Strait of Hormuz.
Safavi’s remarks appear aimed at deterrence, emphasizing that any attempt to shift the conflict from air and maritime operations to a ground invasion could trigger a far broader and more costly confrontation.
