Israel Reportedly Considering Plans to Assassinate Senior Iranian Military Officials

According to the New York Post, Israel is reportedly considering a covert intelligence operation targeting some of Iran’s most senior military and security officials, using tactics similar to those previously employed against Hezbollah.

The reported plan could involve intelligence infiltration, surveillance and targeted assassinations aimed at key figures within Iran’s military leadership and decision-making structure.

Among the Iranian officials reportedly mentioned as potential targets are:

* Ahmad Vahidi: Commander-in-Chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

* Hossein Taeb: Senior official within Iran’s Basij leadership.

* Mohsen Rezaei: Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

* Ali Abdollahi: Head of Iran’s Armed Forces General Staff command structure.

If implemented, such an operation could significantly escalate tensions between Israel and Iran, particularly following previous targeted killings of senior Iranian military and security figures.

The key question is whether Iran would tolerate further assassinations of its senior officials or respond with retaliatory military action against Israel, potentially triggering another major confrontation in the Middle East.
