ISRAEL REVOKES DIPLOMATIC STATUS OF DUTCH ENVOYS OVER WEST BANK SETTLEMENT BAN

Israel has revoked the diplomatic status of Dutch diplomats serving at the Netherlands’ Representative Office in Ramallah, giving them seven days to return their Israeli-issued diplomatic documents.

The move follows a decision by the Netherlands to ban the import, purchase and sale of goods originating from Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Israel says the Dutch representatives may continue dealing with the Palestinian Authority from Palestinian-controlled territory, but will no longer enjoy Israeli-granted diplomatic privileges and immunities.

The development marks a further deterioration in relations between Israel and the Netherlands amid continuing disagreements over the war in Gaza and Israeli settlements in the West Bank.
