IT’LL BE UNDIGNIFIED FOR HH TO PRESIDE OVER LUNGU’S FUNERAL – FAMILY TELLS COURT
THE family of former president Edgar Lungu has told the South African High Court, Gauteng Division, that it would be “undignified” for President Hakainde Hichilema to preside over Lungu’s funeral.
The family’s lawyer made the submission before Acting Judge President Aubrey Phago Ledwaba, Acting Deputy Judge President Thifhelimbilu Phanuel Mudau, and Judge Sulet Potterill, insisting there was no agreement for President Hichilema to play any role in the funeral proceedings.
“It will be undignified to force the respondents to have the current President preside over the funeral of the late president. So, we are saying that there is no agreement. We are saying for argument’s sake if the court might find that there is some sort of agreement.

The late President Rupia Banda’s family never stopped any body from attending his funeral even those that stopped him from going for medicals. Was Mr Banda not hurt when he was not allowed to travel at the airport. We must stop being funny. The Banda family forgot about some certain disappoinments that happened, the Kaunda did that, the Chiluba family did the same.President Chiluba’ image was badly dented but the family just ignored that and the funeral went on peacefully and was put to rest with dignity. We must get ready to mourn and put to rest the leader of our country who departed that’s our Zambian spirit. We must separate politics from sorrowful situation we are in.When you mourn for too long you may end up blocking certain progressive things that you are expecting.
Dignified funerals should be for dignified people only. Can the Lungus claim to be more dignified than HH with all those cases of plunder and theft still going on in court? Sometimes, people say things without thinking and this is the case with the Lungus.

So if dignified Funerals are for dignified people, allow the family to have an indignified funeral in South Africa for an ‘Indignified’ Edgar Chagwa Lungu…Remain with your dignity in Zambia!
Why are you troublling the Widow and family, you consider indignified?
Who set the precedent of forcing former presidents to be buried by the state? Is it pf or UPND?
And who is troubling who? They are troubling themselves.
They can win the case in Mzansi but they will stand trial in Zambia thereafter.
The behaviour around Lungu’s death is appalling. People must grow up and let the troubled soul of Lungu rest.
This is all PR, before it was, ‘HH should never be anywhere the body”, but that did not sound and sit well to manny people, now they are using ‘dignified” sounds more accomodating to many gallible who have bought into this family to hide
their bitterness.
Zambia is a Republic governed by the rule of law, not by whims of emotion or political grudges. Therefore, access and protocol at such an event are guided by State procedures, not by personal feelings or bitterness from any widow or relative. To suggest that Esther Lungu , in her capacity as a widow has the legal or moral right to chase away a sitting President from a State funeral is not only unconstitutional but undermines national decorum and the dignity of public office.
Exactly. After all President HH , in his personal capacity, may have no interest in attending a funeral to which he is not welcome.
I wonder what Eshter, her children, relatives , supporters and her advisers have in mind…
It is absurd for her to think that they can circumvent protocol for all of us to dance to their emotions…
Infact, for all we care, they can do whatever they want with the remains as we have since moved on but have not forgotten the atrocities committed against us as Vengeance is not ours…
Look at the ugly face the woman is bitter and jealous, madam Esther lungu hate us who voted your man out of power not HH.Soon we will start hearing the issue of property grabbing another court cases.
The hate for HH is so deep in the Lungus. It should be the other way round. Let us not forget the persecution of HH by ECL. no HH no state funeral.his own family has denied him that. There is something deep around ECL s death. Why all this charade?
It’s good to see all the thieves in one place.
The faces of the same feathers, they gathered in one place, made to do that with unforgiving hearts, incorrigible hearts and great hatred against HH. Oh, have I gotten? Thieves hate the government, they hate laws and hate law enforcers, and especially the president whose duty is maintain sanity, by urging all concerned to do what is right.
