‎I’VE RECEIVED OFFERS TO BE RUNNING MATE – KAPWEPWE

‎Late former Zambia’s vice-president in the UNIP government, Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe’s daughter, Mulenga, says she has received offers to contest as running mate in the 2026 general elections, and that the position should be given to someone with the capabilities as opposed to their longevity in the political setup.

‎And Kapwepwe has disclosed that she was receiving numerous offers for a running mate and other positions from different directions.

‎Former PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri this week told Daily Revelation that presidential aspirant Makebi Zulu must consider a PF ‘true green’ like herself for running mate over the push by some in the party for Kapwepwe to be considered for the position. She questioned who Kapwepwe was to deserve a mention for such a lofty position.

‎But in reaction, Kapwepwe said she was thankful that she was being thought

  1. They are only abusing your name to further their selfish and criminal agenda.

Do you know that Malukula extraordinaire has promised all PF criminals currently serving sentences that they will be released if your team wins ? Including Malanji who was able to buy 2 Bell helicopters? You are joining that gang of unrepentant career criminals who stole millions from the people of Zambia. Good luck.

  2. who is she without the name kapwepwe?
she is just another lousy person who has been fed
lies about the importance of their family to Zambia and now thinks
that Zambians are crying out for her because she is
    a Kapwepwe?

  3. So this Kapwepwe she cant embrace HH and pose similar photo in name of HH exellent performance but wud rather do that with unproven presidential armourish aspirants for what better cause?
Tribalism in this country will never end

  4. Madame, numerous requests are common in politics, just like in football, players receive numerous requests towards and during the transfer window but what matters most is the team to join. And I don’t know how you plan to market yourself because you seem to be contradicting yourself in your narration. You are saying that you, you deserve the position of a running mate because of your capabilities and not your longevity in the political set up. For sure you know that you have no political longevity in the political setup apart from that of your late Father. And that leaves you with only the capabilities which claim to have. But youou need to come out and tell us, the voters what those capabilities in you are, at least point at one achievement either past or present that you have done. Those people sending numerous requests to you, what are they seeing in you? What are you capable of doing for example which the past and present running mates (Inonge Wina and Mutale Nalumango) could not do or cannot do. If your answers to these questions will not be convincing to voters, then it will be very difficult for you to convince them. They will take you to be an emerging politician who just wants to use and ride on the the name of your late Father. Riding on your Father’s name in itself pseems to a good strategy but it has never worked out in Zambia. It could not work with any of the past presidents’ or Vice Presidents’ children. Unlike in America and other countries, in Zambia being the son/daughter of the former President or Vice does not count. If it counted, any of Kaunda’s, Chiluba’s, Mwanawasa’s, RB’s, Sata’s or Lungu’s child could have been the president or Vice in the past or currently.
The other huddle is on the team you are joining, both of you are not registered party leaders of any registered party hence, you are banking on an opposition party you can use as purpose vehicle. You have no established structures especially at the grassroots. So you have an immense task ahead of you. Good luck and all the best but politics te yabaiche, kukosa. During elections, is the time we see men and boys.

    • Whilst you have some very relevant points, I must disagree on the point that children of former politicians or heads of state are incapable of participating in politics. If any of them decided to run as president or Vice, it is their constitutional right, and it is their choice, just like any other Zambian citizen. Why not?
Examples: President Uhuru Kenyatta, son of Jomo Kenyatta, and President Ian Khama of Botswana, son of Seretse Khama. However, even if a candidate running as Vice president is affiliated by a political name, they are also just as eligible, as long as the individual is capable of doing it for the benefit of the people. They just may have the capability to run for an office of that stature. However, if the qualities of humility and integrity are not there, then the name means mean nothing.

      • WISDOM should be in the equation. Leadership is tough without it. God grants it to those who ask. All those aspirants must keep that in mind.

  5. Ba Kapwepwe, you just wake up & after eating a plate of chisensa, you suddenly decide, “Yes. I shall be a running mate.” The sheer audacity and self importance is at another level.
We’ve seen this movie before: election night arrives, results start rolling in, and surprise straight zeros across the board. Cue a dignified one month silence while reality sinks in. Then, like clockwork, the next election season arrives and they’re back again, bursting with confidence… the kind only a fly sitting proudly on cow dung can muster.
