Katele admitted to UTH
KATELE Kalumba, who was last month jailed for corruption, has been admitted to the University Teaching Hospitals (UTH) for what has been described as a recurring chronic condition.
Ministry of Health permanent secretary Lackson Kasonka said Dr Kalumba has been admitted for a long-standing chronic illness.
“As you are aware, he has been in custody following a court ruling and then, as you know, he is not a young person,” Professor Kasonka said.
“He requested to be seen because he has not been seen in a while. So they did an assessment and thought he needed to be in hospital for a while.
Dr Kalumba is a former Minister of Finance.
