The whereabouts of Two Higher Buses of the 25, which were meant for Youth Empowerment under the Ministry of Youth and Sport, remain unknown, while eight have been stripped off.
Ministry of Youth and Sport, Permanent Secretary, Dr. John Phiri and some officials have failed to tell the parliamentary Public Accounts Committee on the whereabouts of the two buses.
And Dr. Phiri also failed to explain why the Ministry has failed to recover over K88 million of the Youth Empowerment Fund from various beneficiaries since 2012.
This was when he appeared before the committee to address audit queries as captured in the latest Auditor General’s Report.
Dr. Phiri however informed the committee that there was political interference and an invisible hand in the running of empowerment projects
