KABWE BUSINESSMAN MATTHEW MOHAN REFLECTS ON LIFE, LEGACY AND WHAT REMAINS AFTER WE ARE GONE

By: Mulabasa Staff writer

KABWE — Kabwe businessman Matthew Mohan has reflected on life, death and the importance of building a meaningful legacy beyond the attention and recognition that often surround a person’s final journey.

In a thought-provoking message, Mr Mohan observed that when a person dies, large numbers of people may attend the funeral, with convoys of vehicles, speeches, tears and formalities marking the final farewell.

However, he noted that once the burial is over, the mourners eventually return to their own lives, leaving behind a quiet home and the memory of the deceased.

“When they go to bury you, it’s a convoy. After the event, they disperse,” Mr Mohan wrote.
He questioned whether people should live their lives seeking recognition from others, arguing that the attention surrounding a funeral is temporary.

“So the question is: Who were you living for?” he asked.

Mr Mohan encouraged people to focus instead on the things they build when nobody is watching, the people they help without expecting applause and the legacy they leave behind.

He stressed that while crowds may gather for a burial, it is ultimately a person’s work, impact and contribution to others that remain after the mourners have dispersed.

“The crowd comes for the burial. Only your work remains after they disperse,” he stated.
Mr Mohan further urged people to recognise their responsibilities to themselves and their families, while encouraging his followers to approach life with purpose.

He concluded by wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead and a good afternoon.
