Kafwaya died for Zambia’s second Independence — Mwila
TONSE-PAMODZI Alliance member Davis Mwila has described the late Mutotwe Kafwaya as a freedom fighter who died fighting for Zambia’s “second Independence.”
Mwila says Kafwaya was an intelligent Parliamentarian who meaningfully contributed to national discourse and played a valuable role in the opposition movement.
Speaking after Kafwaya’s funeral church service was cancelled amid what appears to be a looming impasse between Government and the family over the state in which the deceased’s remains were found, Mwila said Kafwaya’s contribution to the opposition movement was significant.
“He helped the movement. He was part of Tonse and was part of the group that negotiated for the coming together of Tonse and Pamodzi Alliance. His contributions were very valuable
we are going to miss him,” Mwila said.
Mwila said Kafwaya should be remembered as a freedom fighter who sacrificed his life in the pursuit of what he described as Zambia’s second Independence.
“Kafwaya has died as a freedom fighter. The people of Zambia wanted the second Independence and he was one of the people who fought for it, but unfortunately, he died,” he said.

You independence from bad people? You maybe right if you mean these bad people will either go to jail or die that’s fine. In that case we salute his sacrifice to send bena Mundubile to prison. Indeed soon Zambia will be independent from such people.

Ask Mwila to point at least at one of his achievements when he was PF SG or deputy Minister, there is nothing apart from introducing, supporting and promoting cadrerism. His six points never added any value to him. You can now clearly see that this country is what it was because of such people who acted as our leaders. HH has just finished cleaning the poop they left, he has restructured the huge unsustainable debt they left because of their reckless borrowing. But without shame, he is talking of second Independence, what second independence is he talking about? Can we allow them to come back and mess up things again? Aikona mani. The independence and change that we are enjoying now was brought by UPND, what independence did PF leave us when it lost power? If gassing people, burning markets, lawlessness, teargas, pangas etc are what Mwila is calling second independence, then I am sorry for him, we don’t need that kind of independence. You can have it alone with Mundubile and Makebi Zulu. You need to show remorse and respect the dead, what Mundubile and his friend were doing and had planned and wanted to do was not good for us Zambians, it was evil, highly dangerous and detrimental to the developing of our country. We don’t want Zambia to turn into another Sudan or Somalia. Mutotwe Kafwaya’s blood is upon Mundubile’s head, it will haunt him for the rest of his life. And it’s sad that Mundubile is now joining the same prisoners or criminals that he was promising to liberate when he ascends to power. God is not a politician and his thoughts are not our thoughts, they are very far apart just like heaven and earth are. No one can override or substitute his plan. He is the one appoints and disappoints leaders, those who try to use force or shortcuts will lamentably fail.

Davis Mwila, you are supposed to show restraint now, because if we respond it may seem like we are not considerate and sensitive to the issue at hand – the death of Hon Mutotwe Kafwaya. What second independence are you talking about? The late was found in place suspected of mapping out plans to bring instability in the country. You call that bringing second independence. Be sensible. You PF chaps are not even remorseful about the hardships you brought upon Zambians.
