KATONGO 6 MONTHS OF INACTIVITY WORRIES FAZ AHEAD OF WORLD CUP

FOOTBALL Association of Zambia general secretary Adrian Kashala has urged Copper Queens midfielder Evarine Susan Katongo to reorganize herself and start playing competitive football ahead of the FIFA 2023 Women World Cup which kicks off in July.

“From where we sit as FAZ, the player is a ZISD player and that is where she is contracted but there is a rift between the club and the player. The club wrote a complaint letter and even wanted to take the player to court. We have no proof that the player had been training with Green Buffaloes but our concern as FAZ is that Evarine is one of the best players in the national team. She has not seen competitive action after the Africa Cup and we are counting days until the World Cup,” Kashala said.

Efforts to get a comment from the player proved futile by press time as her phone went unanswered repeatedly. (TIMES OF ZAMBIA)
