LET’S RECLAIM OUR COUNTRY AND OURSELVES
We have to reclaim our country and ourselves.
Our country has to belong to us for us to develop it and to develop ourselves.
We really do not belong to ourselves.
We have to start being ourselves and begin to see things for ourselves, analyse things for ourselves, and come to our own conclusions and take our own actions.
It’s not only our minerals and other resources they own and control. They also own and control us, our very beings, including our emotions. They continually promote feelings of frustration, alienation, and despair in us to weaken our collective action and resistance.
We must fight back by promoting hope, solidarity, and a vision of a collective future.
We must struggle to regain control of our emotions and our culture. Without culture, freedom and development are impossible.
The entertainment and culture industries, driven by their aspirations, contribute to a social life suffused with atomisation and alienation, desolation and fear, anger, and hate. These ugly emotions are used to weaken our own authentic liberating projects.
They exploit these negative emotions in us to gain power, leveraging the despair and failure felt by people in a degraded society. They seek to strip us of our belief in the feasibility and potential of resistance and instead spread a discourse based on frustration and defeat.
They promote the most useless and the worst of our politicians and other leaders to serve their own interests. To counter this, we need to build strength not only through political education and the battle of ideas but also through the battle of emotions.
The antidote to this bleakness involves forms of public action rooted in social relief and cultural joy, which help rescue collective life from the breakdown of social solidarity, honesty, humility, and the pursuit of equity and the rise of individualism, greed, unbridled competition and consumerism.
We need to pay great attention to rebuilding confidence and capacity for organised action through trade unions, political parties, traditional leadership structures, religious institutions, and other community organisations.
It gets dark sometimes, but the morning comes. Let’s not lose hope. Once we lose hope, we are finished because hope is a foundational element of political struggle. It is better to act on hope than to give in to despair.
Fred M’membe
President of the Socialist Party Zambia

The goodness is that most Zambians already know what kind of the person M’membe is. I don’t think there is anyone who can listen to you or trust you.
PF COLLAPSED DBZ, INVESTRUST, CEEC, AFTER OVERBORROWING BUT DIDN’T REPAY, like EUROBOND KALOBA, as FUNDS went to PWANDO & LUNGU CAMPAIGNS, and LUCIFER PRIESTS, instead of BUSINESS, now THEY even use the same LUCIFER PRIESTS to LIE that HH & NEW-DAWN are CLOSING DOWN ZAMBIAN BANKS, when it’s BOZ POLICY to PROTECT CUSTOMERS, and INVESTORS…………..
ZAMBIA EAGLE Reports that:
FRED M’MEMBE, EDITH NAWAKWI CITED AS AMONG PROMINENT POLITICIANS OWING INVESTRUST AND DBZ HUGE SUMS OF MONEY IN UNSERVICED LOANS.
Politicians from the previous PF regime and their surrogates have been cited as among those who got huge amounts in loans from the defunct Development Bank of Zambia (DBZ) and Investrust Bank that was closed yesterday due to insolvency.
Detailed reports indicate that most of these politicians acquired these loans and completely refused to payback because they were being given through patronage.
Former Post Newspaper and Post Courier owner Fred Mmembe now leader of the Socialist Party has been singled out as one of those who got huge amounts to finance business ventures which he collapsed.
At Investrust Bank, Fred Mmembe using the then Post Newspaper and its facilities as collateral got US$350,000 and invested in the Zambian Airways project business entity which he collapsed with friends like the Nchito brothers. The borrowed funds have not been repaid.
At the closed DBZ, Fred Mmembe borrowed US$240,000, an amount which he injected in the Post Newspaper Courier trucks business.
For those who can remember, this is the Courier service business which he was given a huge contract by KCM on the Copperbelt and Lumwana mine in Solwezi carrying copper to Walvis Bay in Namibia on it’s way to China. Again Fred Mmembe run down this business and he never repaid back these loans.
And in all these business ventures, Fred was not paying taxes and not remitting money to government statutory bodies like NAPSA and Workers Compassion Board.
For Edith Nawakwi, he borrowed US$150,000 from DBZ and injected it into his Legana Sausage business. While the business was doing well at some stage, she completely ignored to service these loans. In fact books shows that at one point, she even went back to DBZ and borrowed a further US$50,000 which she claimed she wanted to buy more equipment and refrigerated trucks.
She also claimed she needed money to invest in her banana plantation business in Chiawa along the Kafue river. But she pumped the money into her failed political career. For those who can remember, there was a time Edith Nawakwi was going round the country empowering women into chicken business. That was the borrowed money from DBZ which she never repaid back.
Other politicians who obtained loans from these institutions which have since been closed include former Finance Minister Bwalya Ng’andu with US$30,000 from DBZ, another former Finance Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe with US$43,000 from DBZ.
We shall soon compile the list of more politicians who got loans from these banks and never paid resulting in their closure due to bad debts.
So far, former DBZ managing director, Dr Samuel Bwalya, has been sentenced to 15 months in prison with hard labour for abuse of office. He took advantage of the rooting by politicians and joined the bandwagon.
He is currently languishing in prison alone while the real thieves like Fred Mmembe and Edith Nawakwi are freely roaming the streets. They even have the guts to point an accusing finger at the current government as the ones responsible for the closure of these banks.
It is perhaps time the UPND government published names of key politicians who borrowed heavily from institutions such as DBZ, Invest Trust, CEEC and expose their hypocrisy
This is the man lamenting to be the future president of Zambia. The worst calamity that can ever happen to Zambia is Fred Membe
Ba Musonda, thank you for the information. Luke 16:10: “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much”.
We once entrusted the affairs of our nation to someone who defrauded a widow out of K36,000 and we are paying the price for that serious lapse. If what Mr. Musonda has written about Dr. M’membe is true, then Zambians should view him with caution. He is not trustworthy and shoukd not be anywhere near the presidency of Zambia.
I sometimes watch children movies. In SHREK movie. SHREK asks, “you and which army?” To a similar question ba Membe is asking, ” let us remove this regime ” Can’t these guys see that the nation is calm even after their relentless and sleepless nights of inciting? What does it tell you? Were you not here during third term debate?
Come on guys, as FTJ will say, smell the coffee. Abandon this hatred and truly engage the current head of state. Let him govern. You too, if God wills it, will be given a chance. He is in charge now.
