LOZI PILOT INSTALLED AS SENIOR CHIEF

By Barotseland Watchdog

Prince Mbanga, a 65-year-old pilot, has been installed as the Senior Chief for Kaoma, Luampa, and Nkeyema by Litunga Lubosi Imwiko II. This appointment comes after the abdication of Dr. Akashambatwa Mbikusita Lewanika, who faced accusations from the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) of violating Lozi traditions and norms.

According to Barotseland Watchdog, the Litunga betrayed his own brother, Dr. Akashambatwa Mbikusita Lewanika, and “sold him with pieces of silver” to the Zambian Government. Dr. Lewanika faced numerous challenges with the corrupt BRE and the Litunga, which allegedly led to corruption.

Prince Mbanga brings his extensive experience as a pilot at Zambia Aviation to his new role. As he prepares to retire from his aviation career, he will focus on leading his people as Senior Chief. The Barotse Royal Establishment has a rich history, with the Litunga serving as the king of the Lozi people. The Litunga’s role holds significant cultural and traditional significance, beyond ceremonial duties.
