LULA DUCKS FLAVIO ON STAGE AND SMEARS THE BOLSONARO FAMILY AS MILITIA

In the first real face-to-face of the 2026 runoff, Flávio Bolsonaro walked the Band stage and told the incumbent to come stand beside him. “Come stand here beside me, Lula,” the senator said. Lula froze and snapped back: “I don’t want to be near you. I want nothing to do with the Bolsonaro family. With a militia member?”

That was not policy talk. That was pure personal venom from a man who finished second in the first round. Flávio led with 47 percent of the valid vote, about 56 million ballots, to Lula’s 45 percent. The president has spent weeks avoiding debates. When he finally showed up, the first instinct was to keep physical distance and brand the leading challenger’s entire family as criminals.

Flávio stayed in the challenger’s posture. He answered the distance play with a simple line: he had left his wallet behind so Lula could not steal it. The crowd reacted. Moderators had to settle the room. Meanwhile Lula kept circling back to old family accusations and refused to engage the numbers or the record that put Flávio ahead.

This is the choice Brazil faces in one week. One candidate moves around the stage, presses the issues that got him the most votes, and treats the incumbent as someone who must answer.

The other wants distance, personal attacks, and no close quarters. The voters who put Flávio in front already saw the difference. The rest will decide on the 25th.
