Patriotic Front youths in Lusaka says the extraordinary conference to elect the new party president must be held as soon as possible.

Addressing journalists, Lusaka district youth chairman Steven Mwape said the party is on standstill because there is a leadership vacuum.

He said most PF youths don’t know which direction to take because the party has no president to speak for them.

” We need a convention to elect a party president as soon as possible. We have no direction because we have no president to speak for us. Alot of our youths have been beaten and harassed and are living in fear,” Mr. Mwape said.

” We call upon our beloved President Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu to expedite the process of choosing his successor. We are ready to mobilize the party because all our party structures are intact,” he said.

And Lusaka province PF acting youth chairman Kelvin Kaunda has advised the party Secretary General Hon. Davies Mwila to speak directly to erring members rather than speaking through the press.

Mr. Kaunda said the PF CEO does not need to issue a statement in the press to communicate to an ordinary member.

He said the office of the secretary General is too senior to engage in unnecessary squabbles.

” The Secretary General has all the powers to reach out directly to any erring members or official and does not need to issue a statement through the press,” Mr. Kaunda said.
