Bus fares on routes between Lusaka and destinations in Luapula Province have increased by between K25 and K45, according to a revised fare chart issued by the Bus and Taxi Owners Association of Zambia (BTOAZ).
The new fares took effect on October 9, 2026, with increases across all 23 destinations listed on the chart. The adjustments amount to roughly 7 percent.
Passengers travelling to Kapiri Mposhi will now pay K405, up from K380, while those travelling to Serenje will pay K500, compared with the previous K465.
The fare to Mansa has risen from K540 to K580, while travel to Samfya and Musaila now costs K550, up from K515.
Passengers travelling to Mwense, Kashiba and Mulundu will pay K640, compared with K600 previously. The fare to Mbereshi has increased from K615 to K660, while travel to Kawambwa now costs K690, up from K645.
The revised fare chart does not state the reason for the increases. Passengers are advised to confirm the applicable fare with their bus operator before travelling.
