By Darius Choonya

A woman of Lusaka named Elizabeth Sialanga has been jailed for one year of simple imprisonment for beating her husband after he refused to give her money to pay school fees and buy books, uniforms and other requirements for their children.

Sialanga is accused of having used a hammer to assault the victim, White Siakwelele.

According to details submitted in the Lusaka Magistrate Court the incident occured on December 5th, 2022.

In passing judgement, Magistrate Irene Phiri informed the convict that she needed to be punished for the offence that would serve as a deterrent to would-be offenders.

In her mitigation, Sialanga pleaded for leniency because she is a mother of six children that need her care hence her absence would cause misery.

She added that it was the first time she assaulted her husband whom she has lived with for 20 years.- Diamond TV
