MACHADO HAILS TRUMP FOR OPENING VENEZUELA’S FLOODGATES TO FREEDOM
María Corina Machado returned to Caracas and wasted no time giving credit where she says it is due. Standing before supporters, the Nobel Peace Prize winner thanked President Donald Trump, the United States government, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for the January 3 operation that removed Nicolás Maduro and set Venezuela on the path to a democratic transition.
“I want to thank the President of the United States, Donald Trump, the government of the United States, and the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, because thanks to their vision and their courage, and to their action on January 3, this floodgate to freedom has been opened, which will allow Venezuela to advance in a democratic transition and for us to consolidate our country as the greatest ally that the United States has ever had in our region,” Machado said.
She also recognized the quiet network that made her homecoming possible after months away. “I want to thank every person who helped with my return, so that I could come back to Venezuela. They know who they are.”
Machado’s message was clear: American resolve broke the regime’s grip, and a free Venezuela intends to stand as the strongest partner the United States has ever had in the region. The transition is underway. Elections are the next milestone.
