Lusaka businessman and social media personality Suzyo Shawa, popularly known as Magnet, has confirmed that he is no longer in police custody following his arrest and charge of dangerous driving in connection with a road traffic accident.

Magnet, in a public statement posted on his official Facebook page, said he was relieved that the injured person was recovering and responding well to medication.

“First and foremost, I am relieved and grateful to God that the injured person is doing well and is in high spirits. His recovery is my greatest concern, and I sincerely wish him a full and speedy recovery,” he said.

The statement follows media reports concerning the accident, his subsequent arrest and the charge of dangerous driving.

Magnet said he was grateful to medical personnel at Levy Mwanawasa Hospital, particularly Major Doctor Daniel Lisulo, as well as officers from Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Police Station, for their professionalism and care during the incident.

He confirmed that he had since been released from police custody and had received reassurance regarding the injured person’s recovery.

“I am pleased to confirm that I am no longer in police custody. I have received guidance and reassurance regarding the patient’s recovery, and I am grateful that he is responding well to medication,” he said

Magnet further disclosed that he had been permitted to resume his business operations and had travelled to Dubai for business.

“I have since been permitted to resume my business operations and have travelled to Dubai for business,” he said.

He acknowledged the concern the accident had generated, thanking members of the public who had reached out, offered prayers and expressed concern for the injured person.

Magnet also appealed to the public and the media to respect the injured person’s privacy as he continues to recover.

“I respectfully ask that his privacy be protected as he continues to recover,” he said.

He concluded by expressing gratitude for the support and prayers he had received, while reiterating his hope for the injured person’s continued recovery.

“Above all, I thank God for the progress made and pray for the injured person’s continued recovery,” Magnet said.
