A CONCERNED football administrator, Ricky Mamfunda says government must set up an independent inquiry into nonpayment of the 2012 AfCON championship wining player allowances by the Football Association Zambia.

Mamfunda said the current blame game among former Chipolopolo players, former FAZ officials and the current FAZ officials on claims of non-payment of 2012 African Cup of Nations (AfCON) championship was not health for the development of football in the country.

“Sir, in the last few weeks we have noted with concern allegations coming from a number of former Zambian National Team Players alleging that the Football Association of Zambia may have not paid some players their wining allowances/bonuses after winning the African Cup of Nations in 2012,” Mamfunda said in a letter addressed to the National Sports Council of Zambia general secretary’s office dated February 22, 2022.

“We pray that your swift intervention will bring closure to this matter so that we can all concentrate on building a great National Football Team.”
