Man finds suspect dead, hanging from burglar bars
AFTER experiencing four days of detention at Kitwe’s Zamtan Police Post, a 32 year old man, who was apprehended for trying to steal a goat, has been found dead by a fellow suspect.
It is reported that Philison Kahalu hanged himself to a burglar bar using a pair of socks yesterday.
According to Copperbelt Province police commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba, Kahalu was among a group of suspects that ran away after they were discovered, trying to slaughter a goat from a farm in Zamtan compound.
While Kahalu’s counterparts managed to escape, he was apprehended and detained on January 27 this year.
However, around 04:30 hours, police officers at Zamtan Police Post on duty yesterday heard some suspects shouting that one of them had committed suicide.
The deceased was found by 27 year old Frederick Mulenga who was heading to the lavatory.
