MAN OF GOD FEARS FOR PUPILS IF SEXUALITY EDUCATION THRIVES IN SCHOOLS
A Clergy from Kabwe Central Baptist Church has raised concern in the way Comprehensive Sexuality Education is being administered in Zambian Schools.
Pastor Gabriel Nsofwa tells Byta FM News in a statement that while the subject is welcome and beneficial to children, the manner in which it is taught lives much to be desired.
Nsofwa feels some terminologies mostly used are not in tandem with the learners’ level of understanding, thereby seemingly abusing the pupils.
He notes that with the ever increasing cases of moral decay, involvement in same sex activities and premarital affairs among young people, there is need for to relook in the way these lessons are given to learners.
Nsofwa says this is necessary to avoid pupils from taking the lessons as a stimulant to engage into illicit activities.
He remarks that authorities in the education sector should consider revising the Comprehensive Sexuality Education curriculum to make it a standalone subject, unlike where learners only access it through either Religious Education or Biology.
Nsofwa says it must be designed in a way that each grade and age is given what suits them to avoid exposing children to what is above their level of understanding.
