MAN SETS VEHICLE HE SOLD TO CLIENT ABLAZE

A 56-year-old man of Chinsali district has purportedly had his vehicle burnt to ashes after the person who sold him the vehicle was ordered by the court to compensate him the money he spent buying the faulty car.

Muchinga Province Commissioner of Police, Kaunda Mubanga, says Jonathan Chanda of Kapyongo village reported that his vehicle valued at K32, 000 was burnt to ashes by Simbeye Kennedy.

Mr. Mubanga says Simbeye is accused of burning to ashes a Toyota Gaia belonging to Chanda after the court ordered him to pay the victim K25, 000 as compensation for the faulty vehicle he sold.

He says in 2021 Simbeye sold Chanda a vehicle which is alleged to be faulty, but failure by the duo to have an understanding prompted the victim to lodging a complaint to court which ruled in his favor.

“And after court proceedings, the suspect was ordered to refund the complainant a sum of K25, 000 which was paid to him with interest of 15% and to get the vehicle he fraudulently sold.” Mr. Mubanga.

The Police commissioner says the victim Chanda on Monday, 30th January, head dogs barking and decided to peep on the window where he saw his vehicle burning and Simbeye heading towards the road.

No arrested has been made but investigations into the matter have since commenced.
