MARKET VENDORS, TAXI DRIVERS & BODA BODA OPERATORS ENDORSE MUHOOZI FOR 2031

Uganda’s informal sector leaders, including market vendors, taxi drivers and boda boda operators , have publicly endorsed Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba as their preferred candidate to lead Uganda in the 2031 presidential elections.

The group, led by Susan Kushaba, visited the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Secretariat in Naguru, where they participated in a signature campaign in support of Muhoozi.

Among those backing the initiative were Patriotic market vendors, Taxi Drivers and Conductors of Kampala, who expressed their support for Muhoozi’s potential 2031 presidential bid and engaged with other participants during the gathering.

The signature campaign is aimed at mobilising public support for Gen. Muhoozi amid growing discussions within PLU circles about Uganda’s political future and the possibility of his presidential bid in 2031.

The latest endorsement adds to a series of early mobilisation efforts by supporters of the PLU, a civic and political movement associated with Muhoozi.

Gen. Muhoozi, who currently serves as Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and is the son of President Yoweri Museveni, has increasingly been presented by his supporters as a potential figure in Uganda’s post-Museveni political transition.

With discussions about the 2031 elections already gaining momentum within PLU circles, the latest endorsement is likely to further fuel speculation about Muhoozi’s political ambitions.

However, PLU organisers maintain that the signature campaign is a civic initiative and not a formal political campaign, even as supporters continue to mobilise around the idea of Muhoozi leading Uganda in 2031.
