…more money for beneficiaries

By Evans Liyali

Mazabuka District Commissioner, Oliver Mulomba says government has released K3-million for the beneficiaries of the Social Cash Transfer Scheme in his area.

Mulomba, who launched the disbursement of the funds to beneficiaries in Lubombo area, disclosed that the funding will benefit 7, 715 people from vulnerable households in the district.

He says government has also increased the payment for able-bodied persons from K300 to K400, while persons with disabilities will now get K800 from K600 every two months.

Mulomba has since urged the beneficiaries of the scheme to use the money wisely by engaging in productive activities.

One of the beneficiaries, Daniel Hang’andu has thanked government for continuing paying them.

And Elizabeth Hamande says the funds will help mitigate some of their financial pressures.

Meanwhile, Lubombo Ward Councilor, Eugene Natala has appealed to government to consider increasing the number of beneficiaries for the scheme in his area.
