MELONI BREAKS WITH TRUMP OVER HIS RUSSIAN DIESEL DEAL
⠀
Italian prime minister Giorgia Meloni calls Trump’s diesel deal with Putin “very risky.”
Speaking to the Senate in Rome on Wednesday, she said it legitimizes Moscow while its bombs keep falling on Ukrainian cities.
⠀
She also warned it funds Putin’s war and weakens Western sanctions.
⠀
Trump announced the deal on October 9. Russia is to release over 300,000 metric tons of diesel to global markets.
⠀
The goal is lower fuel prices before the November 3 midterms.
⠀
Meloni was once Trump’s closest ally in Europe. Their relationship has soured since the Iran war.
⠀
Zelensky thanked her publicly. Moscow told her it was none of her business.
⠀
Is Meloni right to stand up to Trump on this one?
