MINIMUM ACADEMIC REQUIREMENT FOR PARLIAMENTARY MEMBERSHIP, SHOULD BE ENHANCED TO A DEGEE LEVEL.

We wish to express our profound gratitude to the European Union for the effective and vital contribution they make to our growing democratic processes. However , we feel the recommendation by the European Union to scrap off the grade twelve requirement for one to contest or aspire for parliamentary membership is not a welcome move.
We wish to proudly indicate that the grade twelve requirement has effectively improved and enhanced the overall quality of members of parliament we have today compared to the composition of the previous members of parliament.
As Advocates for National Development and Democracy, we believe that the core value of quality leadership is wisdom from God. We however, also believe that a quality Leader needs to have some sense of academic knowledge to apply the wisdom, hence the need to have some level of education.
In the interest of promoting good governance,economic and social development, we shall submit our recommendations of actually enhancing the academic minimum requirement of parliamentary membership to degree level during the constitution amendment process. Fellow citizens, this will help us in improving our democratic leadership despensation, formulation and development of quality laws, policies that can impact positively and grow our economy and consequently improve the general living standards of our people.
