MOBILE MONEY DEALERS HARASS DISTRESSED FEMALE COP OVER K5,000 TRANSACTION
A female Police officer in Kitwe has won public sympathy and admiration after a video in which she was severely harassed and physically abused in broad daylight for allegedly attempting to swindle a mobile money attendant out of K5, 000 went viral.
Identified as Constable Namusokwe, the female cop ]typifies the everyday life of most public service workers viciously shackled by the debt trap which has reduced their survival to paying current debts in order to borrow for the next meal!
However, for Constable Namusokwe, the debt cycle jammed on the fateful day on Tuesday, September 22 along Oxford Road in Kitwe Town Centre.
After stiff negotiations with one of her aggressive lenders, he ‘advised’ that she deposits the K5, 000 she was owing and he would re-lend her the money immediately after to enable her to pay at the mobile money operator.
However, the lender delayed refinancing the fresh loan, creating ambiance of suspicion, prompting some overzealous mobile money booth attenders to start accusing the debt-trapped cop of attempting to swindle their colleague.
What ordinarily could have been a transaction resolved through legal means turned ugly as the booth attendants took turns to socially abuse and mock the poor cop provokingly while recording their misdeeds using mobile camera phones.
Despite being fully dressed in Police uniform and heavily armed with a gas-operated AK-47 assault rifle, Constable Namusokwe remained calm and collected even as her tormentors grabbed every adjective available to denigrate her character and physical appearance.
Constable Namusokwe was later whisked away by sympathetic members of the public while he remained calm and holding on to her firearm.
She was later rescued by her colleagues on motorised patrolling in the Kitwe Central Business district.
According to sources close to the transaction, Constable Namusokwe later paid the K5, 000 in full after making a few phone calls.
