Monze dairy farmers making K24,000 from milk everyday

Nteme Dairy Cooperative in Monze district has strengthened market linkages with dairy farmers in the area by collecting 3,000 litres per day at K24,000.

Chikuni Community Radio Station reports that Nteme Dairy Cooperative Manager Bukowa Busiku said the market linkages established by his Dairy Cooperative has enabled farmers to easily access market within the area.

Mr. Busiku said his Cooperative is supporting farmers by buying milk from them at K8 per litre in which money is paid to them after a month.

He told the National Agricultural Information Services that farmers have account books in which they record the number of litres supplied to the cooperative on daily basis.

And speaking on behalf of other farmers Joe Hamusukwa said the Cooperative has assisted farmers with livestock drugs, chemicals, and fertilizer to be accessed near their door step at farm level.

Mr. Hamusukwa noted that the market linkages in providing milk to the dairy cooperative have enabled farmers in improving their livelihoods.

He implored the cooperative society to continue providing market to dairy farmers in the area.
