Paramount chief Mpezeni’s spokesperson Ambassador George Zulu says the chief was not happy when he was informed that President Hakainde Hichilema would not attend the N’cwala traditional ceremony of the Ngoni people of Eastern Privince.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, Amb Zulu said the chief and the head of state, however, managed to resolve matters after the latter called on Saturday morning before the main events at the main arena.
“When the paramount chief heard that the President was not coming and that (Local Government minister) Garry Nkombo would be the guest of honour, he was not happy because the President was ready to travel up to that moment. When Nkombo said I have come to represent the President, the (royal) court went into a meeting and agreed that this is not good. His a spoilt chief of the nyanjas not ngonis. So no hand out and hh did well not to attend and now they are waiting for kuomboka please go they Mr president. Mwana wapakomo ngati aliye ulakwa tinga muchoselepo chani. HH is the same person he didn’t want to meet when in opposition.
The ceremony is about the people not guest of honour or the President or any politician. Let us not lose track of this.
If I had my way, politicians would just be part of the audience with no special recognition. The ceremony was a resounding success, l would like to believe, even without the President. So why get all knotted over a non-issue?
Of course, I appreciate the disappointment for the President not showing up after all the preparations. This is the more reason the President or any other politician should not be invited to these ceremonies.
I hope the HH will stay away from the Kuomnoka ceremony and am sure the Litunga won’t lose sleep over that.
The president is controlled by Government wings so at anytime things can change.
