MSONI SAYS BOTH UPND, TOONSE MUST BE INVESTIGATED FOR TREASON.

All Peoples Congress Party President Nason Msoni has challenged the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to ensure that allegations of treason are investigated fairly, arguing that no political leader should be above the law

Mr Msoni says the ongoing legal issues involving Makebi Zulu and Brian Mundubile should not prevent authorities from examining other allegations relating to the country’s political and electoral processes.

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page and monitored by Zambian Watch, Mr Msoni argues that Zulu and Mundubile risk becoming what he describes as “sacrificial lambs” in a wider political dispute.

He maintains that allegations involving attempts to acquire or retain presidential power through unconstitutional means should be investigated independently, without political favouritism.

Mr Msoni further argues that the same standard of accountability should apply to President Hakainde Hichilema, saying the allegations he has raised against the Head of State should not be ignored.

“Mundubile and Makebi appear to be bearing the political consequences of the actions and omissions of other people who clearly should be held accountable. In this matrix, Mundubile and Makebi are being used as sacrificial lambs,” Mr Msoni stated.

He also stressed that any allegations involving the unconstitutional acquisition or retention of presidential power should be handled through proper legal procedures, with credible evidence guiding any investigations.

Turning his attention to the DPP, Mr Msoni challenged the office to demonstrate that the law applies equally to everyone, regardless of political position or influence.

“If the DPP is serious about treason and his investigations, he need not look any further, as treason is right under his nose,” he said.
