MWALITETA WANTS MORE: UPND PROVINCIAL CHAIR CALLS FOR GRAFT FIGHT TO TARGET EX-LEADERS
RULING United Party for National Development (UPND) Lusaka Province chairperson Obvious Mwaliteta says law enforcement agencies should stop targeting small businesses in the fight against corruption but instead target those who served in the previous administration.
Mr Mwaliteta says Zambians are now tired of waiting to see the arrest and prosecution of former government leaders, whose cases of suspected corruption are in public domain.
He says the fight against corruption should centre more on former government ministers and officials who illegally gave orders to business entities to carry out their dirty works.
“For the past 12 months, no convictions have been done and yet there are a lot of wrong things which were done,” Mr Mwaliteta said in an interview.
“We have taken long as a country to take these people to prison. Instead, we have been targeting small, small businesses.
Zambians know how destructive the PF had been in power, I know these people, they were my colleagues .
