Newly appointed Minister of Justice Hon Jack J Mwiimbu, SC.MP, has pledged to strengthen Zambia’s justice system, uphold the rule of law and support reforms that promote fairness, accountability and national development.

In a statement of appreciation posted on his official Facebook page, Hon. Mwiimbu thanked President Hakainde Hichilema for entrusting him with the ministerial portfolio, saying he accepted the appointment with humility and a firm understanding of the responsibility it entails.

He emphasised that public office is a duty to serve the people and protect the interests of the Republic, identifying constitutionalism, access to justice and the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms as essential pillars of a stable and democratic Zambia.

Hon. Mwiimbu also highlighted the importance of a credible justice system to economic growth, noting that citizens, businesses and investors need confidence in the law and the institutions responsible for administering justice.

He said his contribution would focus on supporting reforms that improve the efficiency and credibility of the justice system, in line with the Grow Zambia Agenda and the broader goal of building a more prosperous and inclusive nation.

The minister expressed readiness to work with President Hichilema, Cabinet colleagues, Parliament, the Judiciary, the legal profession, traditional leaders, civil society, the private sector and other stakeholders to advance these priorities.

He also thanked the people of Monze East, Southern Province and Zambians across the country for their continued trust and support, while expressing gratitude to his UPND colleagues and all those who had sent messages of goodwill following his appointment.

Hon. Mwiimbu concluded by pledging dedicated service and principled leadership as he works towards a stronger justice system and a Zambia that is more just, prosperous and inclusive.
