My phone never stopped running, now it doesn’t ring at all

FORMER INSPECTOR GENERAL OF MALAW POLICE, LOT DZONZI, WRITES

There was a time when I used to have two phones; TNM and Airtel. There would keep ringing from 4 am to about 11 pm. That was the time I would be recognized by so many people on the streets and had so many,” do you remember me Sir”. I got invitations to engagements, weddings and fund raising events. I traveled abroad on average three or four times a year.

Today, I sit on the sofa for three to four days with no single person phoning, this phone 90 percent of the times is used as a play toy by my little boy Chifundo. I walk through the Shopping Mall and nobody recognizes me anymore. Nobody wants to remind me who they are. No invitations to events are forthcoming anymore. I last travelled abroad in November of 2019. I think my passport is now expired.

What has changed? ALL THOSE THINGS WERE NOT HAPPENING TO ME BECAUSE I WAS ME. They happened because of what I was. Now what I was belongs to others. This Lot, is what you really are. Forget what is behind you, focus on enjoying the moment and what is ahead. Develop an attitude of gratitude! Very few people will ever get to be 63 years old.
LESSON
Always mind of you. You must be you. Strive be you.
Never forget that your job position is not you.
Never forget that your church position is not you.
Never forget that your parents’ status is not you.

Never forget any given position or responsibility is not you.

A time will come when you will be you. The true you will manifest.

Build this true you. Don’t sleep, build it.
