MY WORRY AND FEAR OVER THE CONSTITUTIONAL INTERPRETATION REGARDING THE ISSUE OF TERM OF OFFICE
I am worried as to why those that are giving us interpretations are only doing so one sided to advance the agenda of “term” under the 2016 Constitution. If such a rule of interpretation is advanced where we want to apply the two years President Lungu completed using the 2016 Constitution, it will then open the pandora box.
According to the 2016 constitution if we apply it to the Elections of 2015 the way we are imposing the 2016 Constitution to interpret the term, it means PF did not win the elections as they got 47.84% short of the 50+1.
My fear then would be if this issue is not handled carefully it has the potential to lead to treason case as one cannot be President illegally. May the legal minds apply their minds rightly. Let us think of the future repurcations and what we can prevent now better we prevent. When one may be found wanting every supporter and advisor will not be there. l love my President.
