NAQEZ ALSO WANTS ALL G12 CERTIFICATES AUTHENTICATED
By Michael Nyumbu
National Action for Quality Education in Zambia-NAQEZ Executive Director, Aaron Chansa, has supported intentions by the Anti-Corruption Commission-ACC to audit grade 12 certificates in various higher learning institution across the country.
Chansa tells Byta FM News in an interview that the move will promote quality education by stopping individuals from using fake qualifications to attain tertiary training.
He has challenged school going individuals in the country to focus on their education and study hard so as to produce good results at grade 12, instead of resorting to printing fake results for college entry.
The NAQEZ Executive Director is of the view that for quality education to be attained across the country, there is need to make the learning environment more conducive.
Chansa says this can be achieved by acquiring more desks, buying teaching aids and equipment like computers, as well as upgrading salary scales for teachers who have improved their qualifications and those serving, among other things.
Early this week, Anti-Corruption Commission Public Relations Manager, Timothy Moono, noted that the institution will undertake an audit exercise of grade 12 certificates in colleges and universities across the country for all current and former students.
This follows an arrest of Patience Manase, a former University of Zambia student accused of forging her grade 12 certificate and other documents to attain tertiary education.
