NEWLY LAUNCHED PARTY CALLS FOR UNITY

WHILE the country is currently facing some political drama, with other opposition political parties joining alliances linked to either the United Party for National Development (UPND) or the Patriotic Front (PF), a new party called the Democratic Union Party has been launched.

Speaking during the launch, Party President Akim Anthony Njobvu expressed concern that some politicians who are supposed to be champions of unity are at the center of issuing hate speech and divisive statements.

He said that the party is calling for an end to hate speech and divisive statements from politicians, emphasising the need for unity and responsible leadership in Zambia.

Mr Njobvu noted that the country is divided along ethnic, regional, and nepotistic lines, and that opportunities are being grabbed by a select few.

“The country is divided, those in business cannot do business anymore, because opportunities are grabbed by the few,” he said.

He added the DU party is promoting a vision of “One Zambia, One Nation,” and is committed to uniting the country and promoting economic development.

“We want to unite all Zambians of goodwill who stand for peace, freedom, love and unity to stand in the gap for the nation’s restoration of its lost glory and economic value”, he added.

“Overall, the DU Party is calling for a new era of leadership in Zambia, one that prioritises unity, economic development, and the welfare of all citizens”, he concluded.
