NO INCREASE IN BUS FARES DESPITE HIKE IN FUEL PRICES

By Tinkerbel Mwila

The Bus and Taxi Owners Association of Zambia says the recent upward adjustment in fuel pump prices by K2 will not warrant an increase in bus fares.

In an interview with Phoenix News, Association Spokesperson Amis Daudi says this is because the increment is minimal to trigger an increase in bus fares.

Mr. Daudi is however concerned how the monthly fuel pricing review has affected the stable pricing of bus fares saying public transport sector will not manage to adjust fares on a monthly basis and that this has also brought about confusion in the pricing of fares in the transport sector.

He has since indicated that the association is yet to meet with its members to chat the way forward on the monthly review in fuel prices.
