NORTH KOREA TESTS IMPROVED HYPERSONIC WEAPON
North Korea appears to have tested an upgraded hypersonic missile capable of traveling at extremely high speeds while changing course in flight, potentially making it more difficult for missile-defense systems to track and intercept.
According to analysts cited by AFP, the system is designed to strike key military targets on the Korean Peninsula within a very short time. One expert said that, if deployed operationally, the weapon could be “extremely difficult to defend against.”
🇰🇷 South Korea detected two missiles during the test, traveling approximately 450 and 600 kilometers.
The weapon is believed to be short-range, while nuclear-armed North Korea also possesses longer-range ballistic missiles designed to reach targets well beyond the Korean Peninsula.
🇰🇵 Leader Kim Jong Un said the new technology would give North Korea’s adversaries an “incurable headache.”
