NUPPEZ UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE 2023 TEACHER RECRUITMENT EXERCISE MODEL
The National Union of Public and Private Educators of Zambia- NUPPEZ is dissatisfied with the model that will be used in 2023 teacher recruitment exercise.
NUPPEZ General Secretary Nelson Mwale says the teacher union is uncomfortable with the government’s plans to reserve 1000 out of the 4500 spaces advertised for school support staff.
Mr. Mwale tells Phoenix News that with the current shortage of teachers in the country, NUPPEZ expected that the government would dedicate all the 4500 spaces for the recruitment of teachers.
He explains that already, a good number of teachers in the last recruitment have left their stations due to witchcraft while others have obtained fake marriage certificates and moved to town thereby depriving the pupils in rural areas.
Government recently clarified that only 3500 teachers will be employed while 1000 of the 4500 places will be for the recruitment of support staff.
