OUR ARRESTED INCLUDING WITCH DOCTOR IN CHIBOMBO FOR OBTAINING GOODS BY FALSE PRETENCES
FOUR people among them a witch doctor and his helper have been arrested in Chibombo for the offences of obtaining goods by false pretences, naming a person to be a witch and for unlawful wounding.
Kelvin Musonda 30, a witch doctor, Moses Msukuma 34, Christian Kabwe 21, a helper of the witch doctor and Elidah Mafumo 54 a head woman were apprehended yesterday around 03:00 hours.
One of the suspects, Moses has been arrested for the offence of naming a person to be a witch, while the head woman has been arrested for allowing a witch finder to divine in her village.
The witch finder’s helper, Kabwe on the other hand has been arrested for the offence of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.
Central province police commissioner David Chileshe said the quartet were arrested after reports were given to police by concerned members of the public of a witch finder divining in the area.
“Officers from Chibombo Police Station together with Keembe Police Post undertook an operation on Monday, February 6th, 2023 at around 03:00 hours which led to the apprehension of the above mentioned persons. Six unlawfully obtained herds of cattle were recovered while the victims of the heinous crimes are yet to be contacted. The suspects are detained in lawful custody pending appearance in court,” he said.
