PAKISTAN WARNS HOUTHI ATTACKS ON SAUDI ARABIA COULD TRIGGER DEFENSE PACT
Pakistan has warned that continued attacks by Yemen’s Houthi movement against Saudi Arabia could force Islamabad to activate its mutual-defense commitments under the Makkah Defense Agreement.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye are parties to the agreement, which establishes a collective-defense framework under which an attack against one member could prompt the other two to provide military support.
The warning raises the prospect of a wider regional confrontation if Houthi attacks against Saudi territory intensify, potentially drawing Pakistan and Türkiye more directly into the conflict.
Any activation of the pact would mark a significant escalation, transforming attacks on Saudi Arabia into a potential collective-security crisis involving three major regional powers
