People in Lusaka lie that’s why I’m attending ceremonies – Hichilema

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says he has been attending traditional ceremonies in order for him to hear people’s problems directly because people in Lusaka lie.

President Hichilema stated that attending ceremonies is one of the ways he can engage with the people unlike depending on the information found in Lusaka where people might tell him what does not even exist.

“That’s why, royal highnesses, I’m coming to your palaces, to your ceremonies so that I can hear what people are saying directly. Nkambo bantu bachenga ku Lusaka kulya. (Because people lie in Lusaka). They can tell you things that are not there,” said the Head of State.

Officiating at the Guta Mweenze Bbwe traditional ceremony of the Tonga people of Nyawa Chiefdom in Kazungula District of Southern Province, the President stated that traditional ceremonies were also important for the unity it brings to the county.

He assured the people of Kazungula of government’s commitment to alleviating poverty in the area.

President Hichilema also urged the people to be agents of hard work even as government strives to remove poverty.

“But you the Nyawas, don’t cry, I’m here to sort out your problems. Don’t cry, I pay attention to your problems, there’s nothing that’s hard. You will see a change. That’s why I’m not tiring. I don’t want any one to die of hunger. And if there’s any lazy person in Kazungula, tell them HH said you are not supposed to eat,” said the President in Tonga.

  1. It is always everyone’s fault, but never his.

He has spent his presidency telling lies and fighting his predecessor. Economy is a lot worse than it was when he took over. He will soon run out of people to blame for his incompetence.

Let us stand with our neighbours in Botswana and emulate them.

    Vote wisely in 2026.

  2. Jealous is a disease which makes some people to be so haters of other people , they can even kill if given the gun to shoot . I say so because of the way some people have come to hate HH as if he has offended them . I think they are demonic possessed , they are wizards , satanists etc.

  3. People lie for several reasons, in political circles one of the reasons why people lie may be because the person lied to does not like the truth if it is ugly, so they give beautiful lies. The second reason they lie is because if they say the ugly truth, the recipient may blame them for that ugly truth claiming that they are not doing their job hence the problem, so they go for beautiful lies. The other reason people lie in political set ups is because they have seen that their maestro loves praise, so they will go on and give false praise in order to make their maestro happy. At the end of the day, it is up to the leaders to decipher truth from lies, I remember under Super Ken, he used to have firsthand information direct from ward chairmen such that he was more knowledgeable than incumbent MP’s about constituencies he would visit. An MP would propound about the problems in his constituency and Super Ken would educate that MP about areas where problems were being faced in detail, this forced MP’s to do their homework before giving a report to the president about their constituencies.

  4. With all due respect bwana HH, where is your monitoring and evualation unit? What are they doing? They get a salary, they should be travessing the country to evaulate and state at what stage projects are moving incase Ministries are stating one thing and yet on the ground another is happening.
Andrew Chellah under ECL was seen in work suits in site following up how projects were moving. What are your people doing?
The other day The Ngoni Paramount Chief was calling out government on the delivery of draught relief. Who does the variance analysis of what has been sent out and what has been disbursed?
People cried about jobs. When given the task. They fail. Mr. Kangwa and the Public service commissions if people are not meeting their set targets, busy telling citizens to “come tomorrow” they are not fit to serve. Citizens want delivery not stories.
