PETRAEUS: U.S. MILITARY BASES EAST OF THE GULF “MAY NO LONGER BE ABLE TO OPERATE NORMALLY”
Former CIA Director and retired U.S. General David Petraeus has warned that American military bases located in countries east of the Gulf may no longer be able to operate under normal conditions.
According to Petraeus, the deteriorating security situation across the region and the growing threat of potential attacks against U.S. military facilities have fundamentally changed the environment in which American forces operate.
He suggested that the continued vulnerability of these bases could make it increasingly difficult for the United States to maintain the same level of military operations and regional presence as in the past.
The warning comes amid heightened tensions across the Gulf, where U.S. military installations and assets face growing concerns over missile, drone and other potential attacks.
If the security situation continues to deteriorate, the United States could face difficult questions about the future of its military posture and the operational effectiveness of its bases across the region.
