PF ACCUSES UPND OF FEARING TONSE ALLIANCE’S PLAN B
By: Sun FM TV Reporter
The opposition Patriotic Front (PF) faction has accused the United Party for National Development (UPND) of being apprehensive about the Tonse Alliance’s Plan B.
Speaking to Sun FM TV News, member of the Central Committee Mumbi Phiri alleged that the UPND appears unsettled by former president Edgar Lungu’s extended stay in South Africa.
Ms. Phiri noted that calls demanding government to disclose the former president’s whereabouts and safety predominantly originate from individuals affiliated with UPND.
She expressed her personal wish for Mr. Lungu to remain in South Africa for a longer period, suggesting that it provides him with an opportunity to rest away from local political tensions.
Furthermore, Ms. Phiri conveyed confidence in the Tonse Alliance’s unity, asserting that it will remain intact until the 2026 general elections.
She dismissed claims that the alliance might fracture due to alleged attempts by political parties to usurp leadership from the former head of state.

But kwena. Big problem in our thinking.
I doubt if Nakachinda and Lubinda can be used at this critical time by the ruling UPND to disturblize your so called TONSE ALLIANCE. Infact the likes of Nakachinda and Lubinda know the exactly dilemma that the alliance will face if they or you still think EDGAR Lungu can be your candidate in 2026 Presidential otherwise General elections. As it stands, ECL is barred from standing for any elections in Zambia as per Constitutional Court ruling hence the dark corner meetings that are allegedly taking place as seen, observed and heard in that vidio circulating on social media. But the issue at hand is whether Seon Tembo can allow Fredd Mmembe to be your preferred TONSE alliance candidate in 2026 or you will settle for Kalaba because Kalaba also wants to lead the group as your flag carrier next year hence his ditching UKWA bag for the obvious expected. So we don’t have to pretend but the truth of the matter is that all these parties like Citizens first, Mmembers Socialist party are positioning themselved to take over your alliance because Lungu will not atand. I don’t know because Lubinda and Nakachinda the too talkative PF / tonse alliance members are still quiet even now because they know.
So these accusations will just worsen your being and I see the collapse of TA here – the fall. So mayo mumbi be ready for integration
If it is gvt paying for the former head of state? How can that Mumbi wish him a long stay other than for medical reason. Doesn’t she understand that it costs alot of money for those going abroad for treatments.
When will Zambia built better hospitals to manage and treat citizen locally??
“…..She expressed her personal wish for Mr. Lungu to remain in South Africa for a longer period……”
Is she part of the Lubinda/Nakachinda conspiracy?
Which tonse alliance are you talking about? The one with one foot in the grave?
I don’t think there is anything for UPND to fear from Tonse Alliance’s plan B which is just known to themselves. How do you fear something you don’t even know? Moreover Tonse doesn’t even have a leader, so what is there to fear? Can UPND just fear the name Tonse Alliance? I don’t think so
South Africa has become a good leisure resort for former SADC countries presidents. We had Ian Khama for many years in South Africa who left for his home country Botswana shortly before their elections. Joseph Kabila was here for years, he just left two weeks ago for DRC. Here now we have Lungu who is being encouraged to stay longer in South Africa. Other former presidents come for relatively shorter periods and go back to their countries.
