PF regime was better than UPND, says Linda Kasonde

Surely Ms. Kasonde you are really comparing PF to UPND. Consciously, i feel you are doing a de-service to yourself and erasing your legacy.

1. PF killed many innocent Zambians who includes NSAMA NSAMA, Joseph Kaunda, LAWRENCE Banda, Mampenzi to mention but afew.
2. Police gassing UPND and the general public was in PFs DNA as an order for their blood thirsty schemes.
3. You yourself, were attacked at your Office by the mafia PF Cadres, youths were threated by PF cadres who included the late TUTWA who wanted to break their bones when they tried to conducy s peaceful protest.
4. Many Zambians were gassed and were filled with fear and more than 55 killed during tnis PF evil plan.
5. Mafia PF Cdres were all over the markerts bus stops collecting money which they shared with their senior party officials instead of the local authorities and as a result workers in many councils went without salaries for more than 7 to 9 months. An evil act.
6. Blood was shed in day light by PF cadres without the Zambia POLICE doing anything as cadres had more powers supported by the late lungu to harass, i jure and kill people.
7. Radio and TV stations who spoke against PF were clossed while their staff hassed and beaten.
8. Tribalism and regionalism was the order of the day and done without shame and remorse.
9. Corruption was ripe in PF – using their slogan of uwulya mwibala.

But in UPND.
1. We have sanity and rule of law being reinstalled.
2. Councils have more money for development using CDF and their staff being paid on time.
3. We have free education.
4. Bursaries are now avaiable to most vulnerable students especially from vulnerable families.
5. Employment of more than 70, 000 Zambians within just 4 years of UPND in POWER.
6. Reinstatement of Meal allowance which UNCLE Nkandu LUO as lungus failed collapsed running mate in 2021 removed.
7. Inclussive cabinet.
8. Stopped cadrism and removed the kamugodi PF Cadres from where they were collecting money and now councils has taken over.

And many more. Where are you finding them wrong since they have and are still working tò restore credibdibilty, sanity and discipline in the public service and country at large.

Misleading title from the content of the article. While I disagree with many UPND positions, there can be no illusion that PF can be an alternative. The cadres are a force in waiting, we were reminded of their DNA recently. Arrests, yes, but the opposition are speaking so carelessly instead of articulating alternative paths to development. Arrests, yes but under PF it is arrests, beatings and deaths, let alone ukulya muibala.

In the first place, the headline of the story is misleading. Nowhere does she say the PF regime was better than the UPND regime.

I remember how the PF tried to oust her from the presidency of the Law Association of Zambia through characters like Mr. Kelvin Bwalya Fube.

In Zambia, you get the impression that if you are a politician you are above the law. We are consciously or unconsciously creating a privileged class who cannot be prosecuted for breaking the law because they belong to the political elite in the same way that politicians are expeditiously given medical evacuation at the expense of ordinary citizens who have been on the queue for years.

Ms. Kasonde is a lawyer. She should ask herself are the arrested people innocent or they actually did break the law? That should be the bottom line.

Linda Kasonde is an embarrassment to the legal fratenity if not to herself. Let her just join the rest for Presidency. Who in their right mind can compare PF to UPND?Shame.

You can not compare PF with UPND, or ECL with Hakainde. The guys we voted out where much much better in nearly all aspects. Hakainde is number last when it comes to the presidents of Zambia. Even after 100 years, long after he is dead, he will still be remembered as the worst president Zambia has ever had.

This Lady is very disappointing and at the same time very irritating. She is a Lawyer who can’t see or remember how the law was being abused under PF, PF had no respect for the law, they were a law to themselves. Under PF, we saw a lot of arrests and extra judicial killings probably more than at any other time in the history of our country. Despite the big numbers the President has pardoned in the last four years, our Correctional Facilities still remain among some of the most congested in the Region and Africa. Who was arresting all these people if it’s not PF. during their 10 year rule? May be Linda can answer question. A lot of women like her were made widows by PF, a lot of children like her children were made orphans. A young woman was publicly stripped naked during Youth Day celebrations in Lusaka, few meters from the then VP Inonge Wina was addressing the people. She failed to utter a word nor condemn the act. I don’t know how Linda Kasonde would feel if her own daughter was treated in the manner that young woman was treated. And if a renown Lawyer like her is the one who supports such abominable acts, then we are doomed as a country. Who else will stand on our side as private citizens when we are abandoned by our own Lawyers? HH himself was arrested 15 times whilst in opposition, but since he came to power, he has never arrested any of his competitors. To add on the list, Mwaliteta, Elisha Matambo, Milner Mwanakampwe, Romeo Kang’ombe, Sr Chief Mukuni’s wife, late Ackson Sejani, late Request Muntanga, Garry Nkombo etc were all arrested by PF on flimsy charges. On killings, the list is also endless, Nsama Nsama, Joseph Kaunda, Mapenzi Chibulo, Lawrence Banda and many others. Had PF won in 2021, HH would be dead by now because the plan was already in place, after handing over power to myself, I will arrest him and deal with him. And AM added by confirming that once HH is arrested we won’t release him, he will rot and die in jail. So if I may ask Linda Kasomde, out of all these things I have mentioned, which one of them makes PF better than UPND? None, not even one.
These people who are being arrested have well defined offenses which they committed and those offenses are outside politics. For example someone just wakes up and starts accusing the President of meeting the Judges at night at Community house, is that freedom of expression? Some one or probably the same person goes to South Africa and he goes on air claiming that ECL was poisoned by …… without any forensic report whatsoever. Is that freedom of expression? Not at all. To make matters worse when he is asked to prove his allegations, he fails to prove any of them them. Then we have a lady from America who was recently arrested for insulting the President, is that what you can call freedom of expression? If it is, then there no need to have laws and Lawyers because they are of no purpose. There is a big difference between freedom of expression and abuse of freedom, those respect and play within the law, have no issues but those who abuse their freedom should be ready to face the consequences.

Emotionalism at play. Bitter cause she was not given a seat at the table.
But tell us why you deserve that seat?
When you make irrational outbursts and want to suggest laws that dont exist to justify your lame utterances. Why would you have a seat at the table?
Bana Kasonde, you lied that the technical committee was not legal. Was a law not cited to prove you lied?

What is with this obsession with the narrative that opposition leaders are being jailed without cause. Sometimes I just feel like given up so maybe we can just let political thieves run amoke & empty the treasury so Zambians continue to suffer. I dont understand the level of shallow thinking which elevates thieves & the expense of the suffering hard working Zambians.

Linda Kasonde is deceiving the nation by claiming that the PF regime was superior to the current UPND government regarding human rights and governance issues, including freedoms of speech, assembly, and movement. This assertion is false and baseless. In reality, the PF regime was dictatorial, oppressive, and restricted people’s freedoms while violating human rights, accompanied by sponsored violence, hooliganism, and barbaric behaviours.

During the PF oppressive rule individuals with differing opinions gathering in bush or hidden places to voice their concerns, along with opposition political parties, faced severe beatings, and their radio programs were interrupted. The Zambia Police and other law enforcement agencies were ineffective in enforcing the rule of law, leading to numerous arrests, with violence being commonplace. What is Linda Kasonde referring to?

In this democratic environment, opposition political parties have weakened themselves due to greed and a lack of critical thinking and understanding of essential issues. Simply studying law or being a lawyer does not guarantee that someone’s views and articulation on governance and human rights are valid.

The opposition political parties and civil society organizations have lost their way, filled with hypocrisy and spreading misinformation. In all fairness, regarding legislation and governance performance, the UPND government has outperformed the previous PF regime in its four years in power.
